Spotlight: Solibri 26.9, and a visual run for the morning check

Solibri 26.9 adds Superrun, a visual builder for overnight model checks. What VDC teams should test before they trust the token meter.

Last week’s leftover walk-scan was XGRIDS Lixel L3. The unused checking note that still matters is Solibri 26.9.0, shipped 29 September.

That is not a new clash engine. Firms already open last night’s IFC, load a ruleset, run the check, export BCF, and hope the same person did the same steps. Solibri’s automated-workflow page now puts that loop in a visual builder called Superrun. The point is consistency, not a smarter rule.

What actually changed

Superrun is a Premium feature in 26.9.0 and later. You pick actions from a list, set paths and parameters, reorder or disable steps, validate the chain, and save it as a .superrun file. Solibri then runs the actions in order. The vendor list includes opening models, loading rulesets, checking, colouring or isolating components, camera and section views, measurements, snapshots, presentations, BCF or Excel export, Information Takeoff, saving the project, and exiting.

You can start a file from the Superrun view, by double-clicking it, or from the command line on Windows and macOS. That last path is how you hang it on a scheduler for an overnight run. Inputs can be local, network, or a cloud folder that already syncs to disk. The product page lists Autodesk Forma, OneDrive, SharePoint and Trimble Connect among the connections.

Autorun is still there. It is the XML pipeline for people who already version-control a batch file, and it stays on Advanced, Premium, Security+ and legacy Office. Superrun does not replace it. Autorun keeps the established checking and reporting tasks. Superrun adds visualisation and inspection steps.

The gate is licence and tokens. New 26.9 features sit on the current plans after the 13 April product change. Legacy seats still get performance, security and existing-feature fixes. Superrun is Premium only. Each successful Superrun uses 300 tokens. Autorun uses 100. Tokens come off only when the run finishes. A Premium subscription includes 17,500 tokens a year, which Solibri equates to about 58 Superrun runs. Advanced includes 1,750 tokens, about 17 Autorun runs. Extra tokens are sold in packs. Web Checker draws from the same pool. Security+ Autorun is listed as unlimited and offline.

The same notes carry checking changes that are easier to miss. Property Rule 230 can now separate a property that is absent from one that exists with an empty value. IFC spatial zones, including Archicad exports, show more reliably in Relations, takeoff and 3D. Rule 1 can treat clashes with protruding opening parts as ordinary clashes instead of always ignoring them. Solibri also claims a 50 to 100 percent higher 3D frame rate on models with grids, text and markups.

What a BIM or VDC lead should do

Do not rewrite the coordination standard because the loop can run at 2 a.m. The rules in our clash note still hold: someone owns the issue, a due date exists, and the model is coordinated only after the second federation.

If the firm already loses a morning rebuilding the same check by hand, this is worth a side-by-side on one live job. Write the current Autorun or manual sequence first. Rebuild it as a .superrun. Then ask four questions: does the file open the same model versions your CDE already treats as current; do the BCF and Excel files match last week’s manual export; does a failed run leave tokens untouched, as Solibri says; and can a second checker reuse the file without editing paths that only exist on your machine.

Count the tokens before you promise a nightly run. Fifty-eight Premium Superrun executions a year is not a daily checker unless you buy more tokens or keep the cheap Autorun XML you already trust. Confirm the plan, the token balance and whether your rulesets still live on a legacy seat.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What did Solibri ship in 26.9?

Version 26.9.0, dated 29 September 2026, adds Superrun in the desktop interface. You sequence actions such as opening models, loading rulesets, running checks, making presentations, taking snapshots, and exporting BCF or Excel, then save the chain as a reusable .superrun file.

Does Superrun replace Autorun?

No. Solibri says Autorun remains for XML pipelines that already run from a script or scheduler. Superrun is the visual path, with extra visualisation, camera, selection and measurement actions that Autorun does not have.

Who can run it, and what does a run cost?

Superrun is listed for Solibri Premium only. A successful run uses 300 tokens. A failed run does not. Autorun uses 100 tokens on Advanced, Premium, Security+ and legacy Office. Security+ Autorun is listed as unlimited and offline.

What else in 26.9 should a checker care about?

Property Rule 230 can now tell a missing property from an empty one. IFC spatial zones, including Archicad exports, show in Relations, takeoff and 3D. Rule 1 can stop ignoring clashes with protruding opening parts. Solibri also claims a 50 to 100 percent faster 3D frame rate on heavy models.
