Spotlight: Nemetschek Creator, and a massing that can leave for Archicad
Graphisoft opened Creator early access today. Collaborate and Max seats can take a geolocated massing into Archicad. What BIM leads should test first.
Last week’s leftover IFC note was SketchUp Desktop 2027. The unused Graphisoft seat that actually opened this morning is Nemetschek Creator. The product page still dates early access to 28 October 2026. Daniel Kassai’s welcome, posted the same morning, tells Collaborate and Max users to open creator.graphisoft.com and start.
That is not a new coordination platform. Firms already rebuild a developer massing in Archicad, then argue about why the GFA and the sun study came from two different files. Creator’s useful claim is that a geolocated concept can leave for Archicad without that rebuild.
What actually opened
Creator is a browser tool for the stage when you are still testing whether an idea is worth taking further. Kassai’s list is specific: a real, geolocated site with GIS context, site boundaries and environmental data; early massing options; feasibility checks for floor area, unit mix, building heights and zoning targets; sun and shadow, microclimate and whole-life carbon; then the Nemetschek Creator Connection add-on into Archicad.
The product page says that add-on is bidirectional and non-destructive. Concepts and units are supposed to move both ways while design intent stays attached. That is the BIM handoff. It is not a clash check, and it is not an IFC federated model.
Access is not a waitlist. Licences are created for eligible company members automatically. You sign in with a Graphisoft ID. Early access is English only and still under active development. A commercial release is planned for 2027. Archicad Max is promised full access after that release. Het Nationaal BIM Platform noted that Graphisoft has not said what 2027 means for Collaborate.
Graphisoft’s still-public Creator FAQ is the last page that names the analysis stack: Cityweft for terrain, context and vegetation; C.Scale for whole-life carbon; Infrared for sun-hour and shadow studies; plus Graphisoft’s own AI Visualizer. The same FAQ still says the Connection add-on works with Archicad 29 and 30, and that you update the add-on yourself after Creator changes. It also still requires Windows 11 or macOS 26, Chrome, Edge or Safari, and a live connection. Firefox, Windows 10 and offline work are unsupported. Projects open at the nearest of five data-centre regions: Europe, East Asia, Australia, North America and South America.
The Archicad 30 desktop shortcut may still point at the product overview. Use the live URL until Graphisoft finishes that onboarding.
What a BIM lead should do
Do not rewrite the BEP because a massing can now live in a Graphisoft browser. Keep the issued Archicad model as the record. The ISO 19650 rule still holds: the package that leaves the firm is named, dated and approved.
If the office is already on Collaborate or Max, this is worth a morning on a non-sensitive site. Open Creator. Drop the real project CRS, not a pretty map. Build one massing you already have in Archicad. Then ask four questions: does the Connection add-on bring units and storeys across, or only a mesh; do GFA, height and unit mix match the spreadsheet the developer already signed; does the sun or carbon number survive a second run after you move a floor; and does the add-on still talk to Archicad 30 after Creator updates itself overnight.
Do not put a live bid site in a tool whose English-only early access is still changing. Confirm who in the company received a licence before you tell a client the feasibility model is in Graphisoft’s cloud. If the seat is Studio, wait.

Frequently asked questions
Can Collaborate and Max users actually open Creator today?
Graphisoft’s US product page now says Creator is currently available in early access. A 28 October community welcome from Principal Product Manager Daniel Kassai tells eligible users to open creator.graphisoft.com, sign in with a Graphisoft ID, and start. Licences are assigned automatically. The desktop shortcut that shipped with Archicad 30 may still land on the product page until that onboarding is updated.
Does this replace Archicad for the issued model?
No. Creator is a browser tool for the stage before detailed BIM. The Connection add-on is how a concept and its units are supposed to enter Archicad. The issued Archicad model remains the record. Treat Creator as a feasibility seat, not a CDE.
Which analyses does Graphisoft actually name?
The public welcome lists geolocated GIS context, site boundaries, environmental data, massing options, floor area, unit mix, building heights, zoning targets, sun and shadow, microclimate and whole-life carbon. A still-public Creator FAQ names Cityweft for terrain and context, C.Scale for whole-life carbon, and Infrared for sun-hour and shadow studies. Those are vendor claims. Overlay the site on the survey before anyone prices a massing.
Who does not get in?
Archicad Studio is not listed. Early access is English only. Graphisoft’s last published Creator FAQ still requires Windows 11 or macOS 26, Chrome, Edge or Safari, and a live internet connection. Firefox, Windows 10, touch-only devices and offline work are called out as unsupported. Max includes full access after the 2027 commercial release. Graphisoft has not said what that release means for Collaborate seats.
